Ubi Fui Privacy Policy
Last updated 26 October 2026
Ubi Fui is made by Colin Burn-Murdoch. It records where you stop and the trips between them so you can look back on where you’ve been. We don’t run any servers for the app, we don’t have accounts, and we can’t see your location history.
What stays with you
- Your location is recorded in the background while tracking is on, and stored on your iPhone as location fixes, stops and trips. It is never sent to us. You can turn tracking off in Settings at any time.
- Motion data (whether you were walking, cycling or in a vehicle) is read on your iPhone, only if you allow Motion & Fitness access, to work out how you travelled. It isn’t stored beyond the trip modes it produces.
- Your places and notes are stored on your iPhone with the rest of your data.
- Apple Watch. The watch app receives today’s stops and your places directly from your iPhone, and sends back spots you tag. Nothing passes through us.
- iCloud Backup is off unless you turn it on. When it’s on, a copy of all your data is saved once a day to the app’s private folder in your own iCloud Drive, keeping the last seven. Apple stores it under your Apple Account; we have no access to it.
- Exports. When you export your data, the file goes only where you choose to save or send it.
Services the app talks to
Ubi Fui uses Apple Maps to draw maps, and to look up a short address for stops and hotspots that aren’t one of your places. Looking up an address sends that spot’s coordinates to Apple, along with your device’s IP address, under Apple’s privacy policy. Naming a place stops it being looked up.
Nothing else is sent anywhere. There’s no advertising, analytics or tracking, and no data is sold or shared.
Testing with TestFlight
If you test a pre-release version through Apple’s TestFlight, Apple may share crash reports, device details and any feedback or screenshots you choose to send with us, to help fix problems. See Apple’s TestFlight terms for details.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your history is kept on your iPhone until you delete it. Settings → Delete All Data removes everything from your iPhone. Deleting the app does the same. iCloud backups can be removed in your iPhone’s iCloud settings, under the apps using iCloud Drive.
Children
The app isn’t aimed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
